Week 6 – Lets venture inside
It was our first chance to head inside what was fast becoming a house and get a feel for the space and layout. Looking down onto the slab previously I couldn’t help but feel it looked a little small. Well it obviously is not a big site, by any means, but it had been looking even smaller than expected.
Here is the best view of the house appearing out from behind the fence where previously only a small and derelict piece of land existed.
As we stepped down inside though we were taken by the size! We were walking around on the slab which is about 15cm lower than the ultimate floor level will be, but even still the ceiling height is a real feature.
It is hard to get a perfect reflection of this (with my photography skills anyway) but here are some to show you how the rooms are looking currently:

And view of the house from the other side at the front:
Every bit of space is being used! A certain piece of important kit may need to be repositioned after this section of the house needed to be built and unfortunately ended within the range of the door opening; no more privacy sorry boys!
The roof, which will be a real feature of the property also starts to take shape. This shot shows the angle of the roof perfectly.
This roof area will all be enclosed in a week’s time but for now you can start to see some of the structure (and hopefully you appreciate my balancing act on the front fence to get these shots?).
The grey green panels you see around are the insulated roof panels which will be next to go up.
These couple of perspectives through the hall shows nicely the SIP panels and frames a view which as soon as it has been created will change as quickly over the coming months.

Next step will be to fill in some of these holes with all our doors, windows and skylights now on order. The challenge of how best to complete our green roof and who to choose to help us with this is still being finalised, and is probably our current biggest headache!
Next week the view will change drastically again as our timber structure will be completed and, when we visit, the excitement levels could be even higher than this week, if that were possible…
