Week 20 – Look at me!
We are at a really great time in the build (not only because we are almost at the end) where with each day it is easier to see more visible progress, as some of the finishing touches are happening.
Here is the kitchen, 80% of the way to being complete:
We have little (but important) decisions to be made about things like splashbacks but we are really happy about how it is looking so far.
My partner on this project and architect said just this week, after seeing all of this, that he may have designed the kitchen slightly larger than really needed, but hey ho we learn and I don’t think anyone will complain, particularly on that point!
Here is the view from the kitchen window.
The lounge adjacent to the kitchen now looks bigger and has even more space with all the kitchen taken out of it and put in its correct home
You can see from these couple of pictures of the bedrooms that the final decoration has been done with our eco paint and is looking great!
The bathroom is now also all but complete with everything fitting in well into our cosy space and making it feel much bigger than we thought! The fact it has nice high ceilings also give a feeling of space in this room.
Our bath goes in readiness for shower to go up.
You can also see the lovely glow from the skylight radiating down into the room and yes it is always this sunny here
Beside it is the loo and towel rail
And just around the corner as you enter is some inbuilt storage
Outside, on this glorious day, sees our rear garden also almost complete:
It really is a great area of useable space and we have even planted the garden bed to make it feel a little more welcoming and to see if we can get some plants established in them.
Progress towards the end is good, as hopefully you can see, with just one final push to get to the end, but equally we are aware that these final little jobs can take time to get through.
As we are now putting our little eco home up for sale (we will write more on that shortly) we will soon be able to show people through.
The main jobs now left to be done are at the front of the house; ramp and front fence, and internally the timber floor is to be laid.
The sewer connection remains our only other major outstanding, and a frustrating one at that, which is now out of our hands and awaiting Thames Water resolution. I will take a deep breath and write a seperate update on that topic.
However, there may be just one more of these updates to come with final pictures of a completed house hopefully, we will update when we are at that point, so please keep an eye out for a final installment.
