Week 18 – The secret garden
With a tiny site nestled in amongst other houses in a residential area our garden was always at risk of being slightly overlooked and lacking privacy, but as some fencing goes up it gives us our own little private nook with a green vista.
A little fencing to give us a corner where we can look away from the adjoining houses. Here it is shown here:
It makes such a difference to the feel of the garden and it feels like so much more of a useable space.
To further enhance our little outdoor space we have some great sleepers which will make a lovely little garden. Here they are here, all ready to go:
We will keep this as a relatively brief update with a few pictures and we will have a more detailed update to follow next. The busyness of a day job, a project and a pending new family member has left us with limited time in this last couple of weeks!
But we do however now have a front door:
This is a great milestone that means that the guys no longer have to screw the door on when they leave each day. Don’t worry though, we will have a proper front door one day but it will be one of the last jobs done.
Lights have gone up:
Lots of time spent looking for these and think they look pretty good when up. And before you say it (it is not your eyesight), yes there is one out of line, we need to move this slightly! We are on it right now…
Tiling has begun in the bathroom which means the completion of that is not far off, even though it looks like it is currently a good flat area to keep a bike….
The render has now undergone 3 coats (do we call them coats?) and here it is looking great:
And kitchen colours also to be decided, we are looking at something from a green spectrum, what do you think?
And we head off from our visit, some guys pull up to fix up the pavement from where the gas connection was made and the pavement was dug up.
I figure every good blog about building houses needs a picture of a big truck… so this is it!
Next update will see us with the finish line in site and updates with bathroom and kitchen to be done, garden complete and all of those finishing touches coming together… And the pics should really show some good progress! See you then
