The largely expected negative response from our hopefully ‘soon to be’ neighbours has not necessary been forthcoming.
Just after the planning application was submitted we sent out letters to the immediate neighbours to advise them of our intentions, together with a copy of our plans and a polite letter explaining how this proposal sets to address concerns that we feel they may have.
We even provided a simple questionnaire with a stamped, self-addressed envelope for their response.
6 years ago when the last planning application was lodged by the previous owner he received objections from each and every immediate neighbour.
We obviously ensured that we sent letters to all of these people and waited with baited breath as to the response we would receive, thinking that no doubt there would be some colourful responses.
If we are to succeed with our application we are going to need fewer objections and, dare I say it, some support!
Well the results are in and we have received 6 responses! And only one of them ticked ‘indifferent’ and did not seem too thrilled with what we were proposing. Not bad…
A comment from one of the previous strong objectors even stated ‘Good luck with your future endeavours’, I cannot believe it, what a turnaround?!
Perhaps time has softened some of those previous harsh views or our far more sympathetic approach (and our far less imposing proposal) has prompted a more positive response.
We are now 3 weeks in to our 8 week wait so keep those fingers crossed.
