Choosing Eco Housing
The Eco Housing route has now in recent times become more of a chosen decision by property owners in recent times. With the good that they can do for the environment and the added efficiency they guarantee, this is increasingly becoming a favoured choice for property developers and owners alike.
More than ever, the realities of global warming and climate change are being seen first hand. It has therefore become more essential than ever before to address the need to live more sustainably. This has in turn seen a massive change in ways to which builders and property developers alike are now approach new build projects.
If you are building a new house, or converting an old one, there are endless opportunities for making the house greener without adding greatly to the cost. The design can make the most of passive solar gain – use the heat from the sun which may sometimes pour through south-facing windows to warm living areas.
Insulation, double (or triple) glazing and solar water heating can easily be incorporated. You could even consider half-burying the house underground to save energy and reduce the visual impact, or building underground heat stores.
Going more eco-friendly doesn’t necessarily have to be daunting and difficult to implement. It can be an easy way to go and it is proven as a cost effective choice certainly in the long term. Living costs and general bills are lower and on the whole its a better way to live in the best interests of the environment.
