Why to build an Eco Home
Overall, the benefits and the reasons are endless! In short, you can live in a house with zero carbon emissions from heating, lighting and ventilation. From all of the usual day to day functions in a typical home, you can do all this emission-free in an Eco Home. At present in the UK, a typical household produces between five and six tonnes of CO2 per year.
Looking at these savings, energy is typically generated by solar panels and a pellet burner. The typical heating requirements in a typical household are low in that these homes are built around a super-insulated shell. Though this will take a fair amount of investment initially, it is well worth remembering the efficiency and financial savings this can enable in the long term.
With the advantages such as the money which can be saved and the benefits they have for the environment, these homes are not for everyone. For so many people it is all about taste; not everybody likes the idea of the furnishings and the feel of an “Eco” home. Another aspect worth considering is that these properties have not in fact reached full development; there is a lot of research and development still required and still taking place, by both academics and governments.
For so many, the issues with these homes are getting used to the complexities of how to operate with these homes. Using the usual household appliances is no longer as easy as it once was. It is also not a great time economically within the building industry; it would help if confidence was on the up. That said, this should change over time and once this is the case, Eco Property will be able to offer its full benefits to a mass market.
